Academic vocabulary: self-assessment

If you have received feedback on your writing that says things like:
- Your vocabulary is not academic enough.
- It’s hard to understand your writing; there are too many technical words.
- You need to improve your collocations.
- Your word choice doesn’t sound natural.
- We don’t say this in English.
- Have you used a translation tool? These two words don’t make sense together.
Then, you probably need to work on your academic vocabulary.
